Drinking to Excess

Here's a new song I wrote on this very night. These song updates might not seem as grandiose as some of the others to the internet blog reader because there's an auditory component that goes along with these lyrics. Trust me, these take a lot longer to write and are ton more difficult than the standard blog post (as I'm sure you're aware). Maybe I'll try to figure out some way to record at least a rough little demo and host it somewhere so you guys can actually hear new material as I write it. I'd like that.

Anyway, here's the new song. It's called Drinking to Excess.

Drinking to Excess
I want to lose my way intentionally
to see if I see the party without me.
It's been a long day, man. I've come to accept
and drink to excess the cup of sweet bittersweet.

I had a dream last night that kept me awake...
you were a mistake that was easy to make.
My honest hands were just
simply not enough.

You don't feel a thing
and I don't feel the same.
Hold me back from drinking to nothing
'til I feel nothing.

Somebody else's touch will bring you to life.
It could have been mine if I could bide my time.
A patient man, I'm not...
and thicker than the plot.

You don't feel a thing
and I don't feel the same.
Hold me back from thinking I'm nothing;
the crown king nothing.

Look at you
mistaking magic
for sleight of hand...
that's all I am to you.
Here's to love and sinking for nothing.
Because I mean nothing.

I'm gonna raise my glass and drink 'til it's gone
and I feel nothing.
